What does Ceramic Coating do?

What does ceramic coating do? Here at Ceramic Pro Houston, we have all the answers. If you take a closer look at your paint (we’re talking about the molecular level), the surface of your paint contains tiny microscopic pores. These pores are open to the air and the environment, which is what allows dirt, debris, and UV rays to age your paint. One choice is to fill those pores with a wax, but this will break down rather quickly and requires frequent reapplication. A ceramic coating, like Ceramic Pro 9H, uses nano technology to fill those pores and form a covalent bond. This creates a glass-like shield over the surface of your paint. After a nano ceramic coating fills your pores your paint will be harder, easier to clean, and have a deeper gloss. Think of it as a harder and shinier additional top coat on the surface of your paint. Ceramic Pro 9H was designed to be layered in order to create a new substrate.

Ceramic Pro 9H is made up of silica dioxide and titanium dioxide, similar to most ceramic coatings on the market. It is important to acknowledge the quality of those ingredients and the amount of them in each bottle. A Ceramic Pro 9H is around 65{0261f8ecbaeb26cf3316fb867307dfe76bf412d651b0298a03e3ecddfa051bdb} silica dioxide and titanium dioxide suspended in a carrier solvent. The quality of these materials are what make the layers harder and the carrier solvent is what allows the nano ceramic coating to permeate and embed to your paint and stay there. With consumer grade coatings, you will probably find less of these ingredients in each bottle because that will make for an easier install. A professional grade coating will have coatings designed specifically for each surface. The specialized topcoat is what makes a nano ceramic coating its hydrophobic effect. The two part coating is what allows for the end result to be both hard and slick, keeping your paint clean and less prone to damages from external elements. When you come to a professional facility, like Ceramic Pro Houston, what you get is the vehicle prep before the coating that most consumers cannot do on their own. That last thing you want is to permanently seal in existing defects permanently.  With the combination of paint correction and Ceramic Pro, your car will leave Ceramic Pro Houston looking like new for years to come!

Ceramic Pro FAQs

Ceramic coatings are amazing! They protect against UV rays, bird droppings, and so much more. But there are some things that ceramic coating cannot do. Our most commonly asked question is, do ceramic coatings protect against rock chips? The answer to that would be, no they do not. Ceramic coating permeates to the pores of your paint and creates a very hard additional top coat over the surface of your paint. It is simply too thin the protect against rock chips.

Another question is, do ceramic coatings protect against scratching? Well, this depends on the depth of the scratch. Minor scratches caused by washing and towels are prevented by Ceramic Pro 9H. But it is not a force field that protects against scratches.

At Ceramic Pro Houston we always get asked, does a ceramic coating need to be maintained? Yes, it does! It is just a protection that goes over your clear coat. It does not need to be maintained as often as a wax does, but it definitely does need to be treated properly. Your protection will need to be maintained by regular washes and annual replenishes. This helps you enjoy the benefits of your coating as long as you possibly can.

Ceramic Pro is a paint protection product that uses nano-technology to defend your vehicle’s paint against the elements and everyday wear.
